See that green line that wanders through Virginia, on into Missouri and up into Colorado, Wyoming, Montana and ends in Oregon? I hope that to be me this summer. I am just now embarking on regional research-- figuring out what I might want to stop and see or do along the way. The thing is-- I hardly know where to start! Yeah, yeah, I know I can check the "Chamber of Commerce" and that sort of thing, but those tend to cater toward car-bound retired folk. What I'm interested in is #1 hiking, #2 local food, #3 art and #4 historical whatcha-ma-callits so I can act smart. :) Well, yeah, I guess I could find all that at a Chamber of Commerce-- but judging by the C of C of places I'm familiar with, it sure helps to have an insider perspective!Below is a sampling of towns that are near the route.
