Hi. I'm RJ.
I like to ride bicycles.
As a kid
I rode to the creek
As a high schooler
I blew out my knee playing soccer, so
I tried out triathlon on a mountain bike.
In college
I found road racing and
went from off the back
to off the front,
earning 5 collegiate national champion stars and bars jerseys.
Since then, I've also
moved of my apartment by bicycle trailer
raced cyclocross
coached a junior cycling team
passed the United Bicycle Institute's weeklong Intro Class
taught bike repair
directed a fundraiser ride
hauled all sorts of things on an Xtracycle
moved out of an apartment by bicycle trailer
became a League of American Bicyclists Instructor
rode across the country, self-contained, with my best friend
got my first mountain bike
learned to bike and bus
raced 'Friday Nights' at the velodrome
and have come full circle by racing my mountain bike in a triathlon-- this time, it's Xterra-- an actual off-road triathlon.
I've also given adventure racing a try and dare say, I've been bit by the bug.
And cyclocross comes again this fall!
Also, I do enjoy a pedal through Seattle that involves a cappuccino stop.
So I'm about riding-- all kinds of riding-- and through this blog, I hope to share that passion with you.
Ride on!
